About the Job
The Senior Online Art Director will be working in a team-driven environment with smart and talented designers, copywriters, user experience specialist, and front-end developers. It is essential the Senior Online Art Director take proactive steps to creative problem solving and provide exceptional direction and guidance in all aspects of web design to ensure marketing goals are achieved in a brand-appropriate and intuitive way.
Tasks & Activities
Create and direct design concepts that meet business objectives according to creative brief requirements.
Generate breakthrough ideas and constantly strive for more innovative solutions.
Effectively communicate understanding of clients’ marketing needs, discuss client requirements and review technical approach.
Work collaboratively with internal copywriters to develop design concepts for microsites, landing pages, social media contests, affiliate banner advertising, community websites, and online corporate communications.
Oversee consistency of messaging and approach within projects and campaigns.
Demonstrate high-level knowledge of typography, graphic design and web best practices.
Stay current with changes in technology and demonstrate technical competence.
Present succinct and persuasively ideas on the web design team’s behalf.
Mentor junior web designers and help them grow into future design leaders.
Work collaboratively with UX, copywriters, project managers, designers and production team.
Prepare files for HTML, Flash Production and Style Guides.
Ensure flawless execution, delivered to specification in a timely manner.
Requirements
BFA or MFA from a leading 4-year undergraduate or 2-year graduate design program.
Strong e-commerce experience required as well as 6-8 years of industry experience, preferably working for a nationally recognized brand.
At least 4 years experience leading a team of designers as an Interactive Art Director.
Must have hands-on experience creating exceptional digital brand experiences.
Strong online design portfolio.
Ability to think strategically and translate wireframes into tangible and compelling experiences.
Disseminate standardized approach across all online media.
Solid understanding of Informational architecture practices.
Ability to multi-task and work efficiently under pressure with careful attention to detail Well-developed communication skills including ability to effectively articulate design concepts and rationale to other team members and internal business leaders.
Solid knowledge of the latest versions of applicable programs: Mac OS, Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, InDesign and Fireworks.
Must have a solid understanding of the strengths and limitations of Flash.
Passion for design and eagerness to mentor and elevate with other creative team members.
Experience working in a large group environment of 10+.
