Online Producer
Indiewire seeks a web-savvy individual to be an online producer for our shiny new website and its associated blog network. Working out of our Los Angeles office, the ideal candidate will push the site to grow audience and engagement.
In addition to producing the site, you'll act as a online guide for the staff and the bloggers. This includes training them on new tools, prioritizing development projects and taking the lead on traffic-building initiatives. The online producer reports to the editor in chief.
We're looking for a competent HTML developer who has a nose for journalism, good writing skills and solid grounding in the technical side of web publishing. This isn't the right job for someone who wants a writing position; the primary task will be making the most out of content created by others.
Responsibilities include:
- Optimizing site curation (choosing stories and modules to feature, writing headlines, editing photos). - Producing multimedia content (web video, audio, photo slideshows, etc.). - Overseeing and growing our blog network. - Working with staff and freelancers on technical and editorial matters. - Daily management of our social network presence (Facebook, Twitter). - Managing long-term web projects. - Providing reports and analysis on weekly traffic. - Creating and sending HTML newsletters daily. - Working with bloggers to seed stories and solicit feedback. - Working with the sales team to update them on editorial projects. - Working closely with our product manager to coordinate and prioritize development projects.
