Architect, Data Systems in our Glendale, CA offices.
Responsibilities: • Looking for an experienced, analytically minded Data Expert.
• Responsible for conceptualizing, building, and maintaining large scale data analysis tools and other related projects.
• Build service using Java and related technologies.
• This is a hands on job which will likely include writing jobs for Hadoop, creating interfaces to report data quality metrics, working with state-of-the-art data mining algorithms, generating automated reporting frameworks.
• Skills desired: strong analytical skills, experience with (or willingness to learn) Hadoop, Java, and strong SQL skills.
Qualifications: • A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design.
• Solid understanding of information retrieval, machine learning, NLP and/or data mining.
• Experience with Hadoop, hive, pig or other grid computing technologies.
• Experience with OO analysis/design concepts.
• Hands on experience with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Perl, Shell, Lucene, Solr.
• Hands on experience developing data and database applications using Postgres, Oracle, MySQL or other RDBMS.
• Experience identifying and addressing performance and scalability issues.
• Must be self-motivated, have great communication skills, and demonstrate innovative and engineering excellence.
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams consisting of representatives from Product, QA and other development groups.
• Directly manage a team of software engineers.
Education: • BS in Computer Science or related engineering field
